Our fourth year and another new venue – hopefully one that we can make our home for years to come. For 2020 (and 2022) we have landed in Birmingham Hippodrome’s wonderful Patrick Studio, along with their super slick workshopping spaces and the glorious attrium which became home to our Verve Poetry Bookshop and hosted the incredible Beth Calverley and her Poetry Machine across the weekend. Of course we brought our bunting and pink cushions with us and in seconds it felt like home! This time we were thrilled to welcome to the Verve Stage: Birdspeed, Rachel Allen, Roy Mcfarlane, Toria Garbutt, Mary Jean Chan, Caroline Bird, Andrew McMillan, Deryn Rees-Jones, Jonathan Edwards, Mimi Khalvati, Jaspreet Kaur, Heather Phillipson and so many more talented poets. Yomi Sode delivered our second Annual Verve Poetry Lecture made in collaboration with the Poetry School. and Barbican & Hippodrome Young Poets showcased their work!
